How does the TikTok algorithm work?

I must say that I didn't understand much either. So I looked into it!

When you upload a video to TikTok, it is immediately analyzed using natural language processing and computer vision technology. Okay, but what does that mean in plain English?

Everything is analyzed, the number of people in the video, the location of the objects in the video, the environment in which the video takes place and the location. The name of the video is also taken into account as well as the hashtags. As on any social network, the more interactions (likes, comments), the more it will be broadcast. Relevance and virality are the key words of TikTok.

A good video would be between 9 and 15 seconds long and would increase the chances of being seen. The algorithm also takes into account the geolocation. Your videos are first broadcasted to people who live in the area before expanding.

TikTok calculates the virality of the video thanks to a points system. The more content you consume, the more it will meet your expectations.

This may seem very complicated indeed. You can find everything and anything. Sometimes WTF videos get more engagement than others. It didn't give me much insight but a little bit anyway, how about you?
