Long distance love relationships have always existed but it seems that they are being virtualized for good. Personally, I have never understood how such a relationship can last over time. It's not with nudes and sex cams that everyone is satisfied? Some things can't and shouldn't replace the real thing, it's impossible. The virtual has its own limits. There is a sense that we will never be able to virtualize: the touch. There is, at some point, a physical desire. Human beings have vital needs such as (and we must talk about it) sex.
It's so easy to bury ourselves in the virtual. What is it? Love at all costs? Pretending to have a sweetheart? No, that's not love... At least that's not the idea I have. Love is sharing and virtually speaking, this sharing seems to be limited behind a screen.
How can you be satisfied with masturbating in front of the other person and say "well, we made love, it was great"? Well, no, it's just self-satisfaction and if one day (well, if it happens), you really do it with the person, there might be some (bad) surprises! You will have idealized this virtual relationship so much that the real one will have a bitter taste...
You will have understood, even if I am stuck to the virtual all the time, I know that there are limits. You can't live in the virtual world all the time, it's not possible. It's like wanting to live like a Care Bear, it's frankly ridiculous and even unhealthy.
So let's not virtualize absolutely everything, otherwise the human being might get lost forever. It would be a shame...
